HELPING HANDS
It's fifty-one weeks of hard work and dedication to make the one-week tradition known as the county fair possible.
It's fourteen board members who spend their personal time at monthly meetings, coordinating sponsorships, recruiting volunteers, fielding questions, and booking events... and so much more.
There are late nights and early mornings the week before, of and after fair, yet every single fair board member will tell you they'd gladly do it again. "The smiles and laughter you hear across the fairgrounds makes it all worthwhile," several board members said when asked why they volunteer for the Cass County Fair.
We asked Fair Board President, Curtis Bierbaum, what his favorite part of the Cass County Fair is: "The best part? It’s completely free. Not many fair boards get to say that about their fair and it’s something we get to be really proud of. Cass County is such a supportive community, especially when it comes to our youth, and we're lucky to have that."
The only regret of the week? "We as a board don’t get to spend as much time as we would like to at the various livestock shows and building showcases," said Bierbaum.
IT TAKES A VILLAGE
The Fair Board would also like to thank all the committees and superintendents that volunteer countless hours making sure livestock is taken care of, shows are organized, exhibits are judged, and to our extension staff making sure kids have the opportunity to join and participate in 4H… thank you.
